You too can be the King of the jungle

My first African safari started with a puddle jumper flight out of Nairobi to the Ngorongoro Crater in Kenya. Packaged in like sardines, I was looking out the window for the airport when I saw a strip of grass and a wind cone. No time to worry about it as the plane alit and bumped a long to a halt. Outside the plane our ride was waiting – an open air jeep with tracker and ranger with rifle in hand. We loaded in six to a jeep and started driving to our tent camp. Suddenly, our jeep stops. We are all looking around and see nothing. Our guide quietly points through the grass and right in front of us was a lion and his pride. This doesn’t happen in Newport Beach! t took four roles of film (back in the day) and I had only been on the ground for 10 minutes. Welcome to Africa.
I have had the great privilege of traveling to Africa twice. First Kenya and Tanzania and then onto South Africa with bits of Zimbabwe and Zambia. I have stayed in five star bush camps. I have safaried, bush walked, hot air ballooned, canoed with hippos and sat on the edge of the magnificent Victoria Falls. I have seen the Southern Cross for the first time. And I want to do it again and again and again. Botswana is next. We are headed to the Okavango Delta – the worlds largest inland delta known as the “Jewel of Kalahari. With it’s incomparable beauty , tranquility and game viewing we can’t wait to explore this truly iconic place. Have you been? Let us know what your favorite experience was.
